Is it realistic to lose 10 pounds in a month?
First, let’s start with the basics. Is it even realistic to lose 10 pounds in a month? The short answer is yes– it is possible to lose 10 pounds in a month. I have personally used this plan to lose 10 pounds in a month quickly, safely, and naturally. However, you should be aware that how many pounds you actually lose will depend on your current body weight, your metabolism, and other factors. That being said, if you’re diligent about following this diet, exercise, and lifestyle plan for 4 weeks straight, it is super possible to lose 10 pounds or more.
The CDC recommends that people lose weight gradually and steadily at a rate of about 1-2 pounds per week. In order to lose 10 pounds in 30 days, you will be losing weight at about a rate of 2.5 pounds per week which is generally considered safe for the short term. You should always consult your doctor before starting any weight loss program. Everyone is different and only your doctor can tell you if a particular weight loss plan will be safe or effective for you.
How can I lose 10 pounds in 30 days?
So let’s get into the good stuff! How does this weight loss plan work? Over the next 4 weeks, you will follow specific guidelines for diet, exercise, and lifestyle so you can lose 10 pounds naturally. This is a super flexible plan that you can tailor to your life and preferences.
This diet and exercise plan is specifically designed for people who want to lose 10 pounds in 30 days without counting calories. Research has shown that counting calories doesn’t work in the long run and tends to make people more obsessed with food than before (read about it here and here). If you want to lose 10 pounds in 30 days and keep it off, you need a plan that doesn’t involve counting calories. If you focus on the right foods in moderation, there is no need for counting calories to lose 10 pounds in a month.
The best part about this 30 day plan is that the weight loss will be sustainable! This isn’t some fad diet where you’ll gain weight within a few weeks of stopping the plan. How to Lose 10 Pounds in a Month-Diet Plan
To lose 10 pounds in 30 days without counting calories, you simply need to focus on real, nutrient-dense foods. This means no white sugar, white flour, or anything processed. You’ll also need to limit carbohydrates to nutrient-dense sources, such as sweet potato and squash. Fill your plate with a palm-sized piece of protein, such as fish, chicken, steak, or tofu. Add about 1/2 a cup of nutrient-dense carbohydrates and then fill the rest of the plate with green vegetables. Limit sweets to 1-2 squares of dark chocolate per day.
If you feel like you need more guidance, you can check out the Paleo Diet. The Paleo Diet has a similar approach to using nutrient-dense foods to lose weight naturally. If you decide to follow the Paleo Diet, you should avoid paleo sweets (except for dark chocolate) during the 30 days for maximum weight loss.
How to Lose 10 Pounds in a Month-Exercise Plan
If you want to lose 10 pounds in 30 days and become more energized, you’ll want to start an exercise routine. Exercise increases metabolism, creates lean muscle mass, releases endorphins (the “happiness hormone”) and so much more! I’m a certified group fitness instructor, so trust me on this! Exercise is an important component of losing 10 pounds in a month without counting calories.
In order to lose 10 pounds in 30 days, you’ll want to engage in some sort of High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) or Circuit Training at least 5 days a week for 30 minutes. I usually recommend that clients workout at home when they’re trying to lose weight quickly because it increases adherence (aka you’re more likely to stick to it!) It’s also much cheaper than joining a gym if you don’t already have a membership. If you prefer the gym, you can check out HIIT or Circuit Training classes there as well.
I recommend workout DVDs when exercising at home, so you can get the benefits of having a trained instructor guiding you. Here are the best HIIT and Circuit Training DVD workouts for quick weight loss:
10 Pounds Down: Cardio Abs (great for all levels with an emphasis on ab work)
Ripped with HIIT: Low Impact HIIT (great for beginners who want a lower impact workout)

Extreme Shed and Shred with Jillian Michaels (best suited for intermediate/advanced exercisers)
Insanity Fast and Furious (this one is intense– advanced exercisers only please!)
Choose 1-2 of these DVDs and do one workout a day at least 5 days a week. By the end of the 30 days, you’ll not only lose weight but also look more toned and fit! P.S. HIIT and Circuit Training both involve high-intensity exercise that isn’t suitable for everyone. For your safety, always check with your doctor before starting any exercise program.
How to Lose 10 Pounds in a Month-Lifestyle Plan
Believe it or not, losing 10 pounds, and keeping it off involves more than just diet and exercise. Stress is the enemy of weight loss and health. This aspect of the 30 day weight loss plan will help you decrease stress so you can shed more weight.
Walking
The first practice of this lifestyle plan for losing 10 pounds in 30 days is walking! You should aim to walk as much as possible during the month to keep active and burn extra calories. I recommend that you walk out in the sunlight for at least 20 minutes a few times a week for maximum benefit. Fresh air helps to relieve stress and sunlight has been shown to help with weight loss. Sunlight also boosts your Vitamin D levels, which increases immunity and supports lung function. Walking is a great healthy habit that will help you lose weight and feel great!
Meditation
The second (and most effective) practice of this lifestyle plan to losing 10 pounds in 30 days is meditation. Meditation has been scientifically proven to reduce stress and anxiety when practiced regularly. It can also help you sleep better. Both stress and lack of sleep can cause weight gain. You’ll get the best results from meditation if you stick with an effective routine.
