Free guided meditation for healthy eating and weight loss

Meditation is an easy and super effective way to make healthier food choices! Regular meditation practice teaches the brain to turn off cravings and to stop reaching for food out of stress or boredom.

This science-based guided meditation will teach your brain to make healthier food choices with almost no effort on your part! Meditation has been shown to positively wire the parts of our brain that contribute to healthy eating and weight loss. It does this by changing our behavior and automatic impulses around food.  Meditation teaches us to pause before we make decisions, so we can make healthy choices instead of simply acting on impulse or cravings.

This article contains step-by-step instructions, so you can do the Meditation for Healthy eating on your own. Practice the Meditation for Healthy Eating once a day for at least 30 days for the best results. This meditation is best practiced in the morning before eating.

Free Guided Meditation for Healthy Eating

Step 1: Start by finding a comfortable position either sitting up or lying down. Gently close your eyes.

Step 2: Tune into the breath. Bring your attention to rest where you feel the sensations of breathing most strongly.

Step 3: As you breathe, notice how there is a slight pause between each breath. Focus on this pause as you continue to observe your breathing.

Step 4: Observe how your body naturally pauses between each breath all on its own. The body has its own natural wisdom — you simply need to pause and quiet the mind to notice it.

Step 5: Before you sit down to eat today, take a slight pause, and ask your body which foods would be most nourishing for you today. Which foods will make you feel the best and give you the most energy for your day? Which foods will make you feel the healthiest?

By simply pausing and asking these questions before each meal or snack, you are training your brain to make more intentional food choices instead of just eating on autopilot. This leads to healthy eating and better food habits. 

Step 6: Take one more full breath. Fill your body up with positive energy.

Step 7: Gently bring your attention back into the room and open your eyes to end the meditation. 

That’s it! It really is that simple. Developing the habit of inserting a slight pause before each meal is an easy but very effective way to develop healthy eating over time. So often, we simply reach for food without thinking about it. We don’t take the time to ask the body what it really needs to feel taken care of today.

By practicing this meditation regularly, the intentional pause before eating will become automatic and you will build healthy eating habits without even trying! I recommend that you practice this Meditation for Healthy Eating every morning for at least 30 days for the best results.
